Genesee Adkins joined the City of Bellevue in 2022 and has been a Deputy City Manager since 2024. Her portfolio includes the Community Development Department, Communications, Intergovernmental Relations, and Citywide Policy & Programs. She represents Bellevue on the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce Policy Council, the Seattle Sports Commission, and other statewide bodies. She provides counsel and support to the City Manager and the City at large.
For more than two decades, Genesee has built effective coalitions across all levels of Washington government, including local, regional, and federal, working to find strategic solutions to a wide variety of policy, funding, and infrastructure challenges. Prior to joining the City of Bellevue, Adkins led strategic initiatives for two engineering firms.
She has extensive experience in external affairs, with fourteen years in Olympia as a full-time lobbyist for governments and non-profit organizations and has been appointed to various volunteer roles on local and state commissions. Genesee has held leadership roles with the Seattle Department of Transportation, the University of Washington, King County, and the City of Seattle Office of Intergovernmental Relations. She has worked for non-profit grassroots member organizations as well an international public transit association. She holds a degree in economics and political science from the University of Rochester.
Genesee has served on a number of non-profit boards and committees, including the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce, Earshot Jazz, the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce, and Transportation Choices Coalition. Outside City Hall, she stays active by keeping up with two young daughters, supporting a wide variety of live music, and exploring parks, trails, and everyday adventures in our beautiful Puget Sound region.
