Lucky Vidmar

Srečko “Lucky” Vidmar was born in Pula, a town on the Adriatic Coast, now in Croatia, into a Slovenian family. In 1989, he came to Colorado as a high school exchange student and then attended the University of Colorado at Boulder where he earned B.S. and M.S. degrees in computer science. After university, Lucky worked as a software development consultant on improving the nation’s response to earthquake, tsunami, and volcano disasters.

In 2003, Lucky obtained his law degree from the University of Denver College of Law, after also studying at the Hague Academy of International Law. After many years in private practice, Lucky now leads the IP and AI Litigation Team at Microsoft where he oversees the company's global portfolio of patent, copyright, and trademark disputes. 

Lucky was the Honorary Consul of Slovenia in Colorado between 2011 and 2021.  He also serves on Dean's Advisory Council of the University of Colorado College of Engineering, as well as the Board of Advisors of the University of Denver College of Law.   Lucky is fluent in Slovenian and Croatian, and conversational in Italian and French.
