Gerardo Guiza

Deputy Consul

Mr. Gerardo Guiza is a career diplomat from Mexico currently serving since December 2022 as Deputy Consul at the Consulate of Mexico in Seattle, where is also in charge of trade promotion and investment. He has been a member of the Mexican Foreign Service since 16 September 1998.

From 2019 to 2022 he served as Mexico’s commercial counselor for economic and trade affairs at the Embassy of Mexico in Spain

From 2012 to 2019 He served and Director General for Foreign Missions Mexico’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Previously from 2007 to 2012, he served as an Alternate Representative to the Preparatory Commission of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO), the International Atomic Energy Organization (AIEA) and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in Vienna, Austria.

From 2004 to 2007, he served as Mexico’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) in Nairobi, Kenya.

He has served in the several international negotiations as part of the Delegation of Mexico in the United Nations Framework Convention for Climate Change (UNFCCC) and multiple Multilateral Environmental Conventions.

Mr. Guiza holds a Master of Arts Degree from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) Washington, D.C. 1991-1993 and a Master of Arts Degree in Diplomatic Studies from the Instituto Matias Romero (Mexico ́s Diplomatic Academy) 1998-1999.
