Honorary Consul of Latvia

Imants Holmquist serves as the Honorary Consul to the State of Washington from the Republic of Latvia. A distinguished figure in both legal and community spheres, Imants is a co-founder of a prominent business and real estate law firm, Holmquist & Gardiner, PLLC, established in 2008. His commitment to fostering diplomatic relations between Latvia and the United States is matched only by his dedication to his local Latvian community in Seattle.

Having been immersed in Latvian culture from a young age, Imants is deeply involved in various cultural and educational institutions. He is a proud alumnus of the Seattle Latvian School and the West Coast Latvian Education Center, where he honed his linguistic and cultural expertise. Imants' passion for preserving Latvian traditions extends to his involvement in the renowned Seattle Latvian folkdance collective, "Trejdeksnitis" where he performed in several festivals, including the 1998 Song Festival in Riga, Latvia.  

During his undergraduate studies at the University of Washington, Imants’ also cultivated his Swedish heritage, learning Swedish by working in Sweden and studying for a term at the University of Uppsala. 

 With his profound understanding of both legal intricacies and cultural nuances, Imants’ Holmquist stands as a bridge between the Latvian and Scandinavian community in Washington and the broader diplomatic landscape, embodying the values of service, integrity, and cultural heritage.
